When prescribing sleeping pills to a patient with insomnia, health experts must take several factors into consideration. The factors which should be included are the patient’s age, medical history, health conditions, any other medication he may be taking. They must also take the symptoms of insomnia found in a patient also into consideration, and to see whether insomnia affects the ability to fall asleep or staying asleep for the person taking the drug.

Until recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved the long-term intake of insomnia. Initially, sleeping pills to treat sleep disorders like Ambien which people buy online is not recommended for intake at least for a month. Certain hypnotics do not get a person addicted to them even if they are taken for a long time – but these medications may develop a need in the mind of a person and such a person might abuse and misuse the drug regularly which is still considered as a key consideration. Most health experts these days recommend their insomnia to gradually stop taking the drug when the symptoms of insomnia have gone away or to take a break after taking the drug for a long time.

Types of sleeping pills

The following are few of the sleeping pills taken to treat insomnia:-

  • Zaleplon (Sonata):-Zaleplon is a hypnotic indicated for intake in patients who find it difficult to fall asleep, but not for those who find it difficult to stay asleep for a long time or wake up too early. The drug is available in the U.S. and many other countries as Sonata. The drug is available in the tablet form of doses of 5mg and 10mg. For senior citizens and weak patients; a dosage of 5mg or lower is recommended. The drug is prescribed for the short-term treatment of insomnia, which means that the drug is to be taken for around seven to ten days since the treatment had begun.


  • Ambien:-Ambien is sedative-hypnotic medication also taken for the short-term treatment of insomnia. The drug is the brand name of the drug Ambien and buy many people  Ambien online in the U.S. but is known commercially by many other names worldwide. Like Zaleplon, the drug depresses the central nervous system (CNS) and is an opioid drug, it can be abused as well as misused. The regular prescribed dose of the drug to be taken daily is 3mg or less and should be taken only when there is a gap of around 7 to 8 hours between the time a person goes to sleep and the time a person wakes up.
